Participating Charities

 

Non-profit charities (501-c3 designation) must complete an application packet to be considered for participation. If your organization would like to participate in next year's Alternative Gift Fair, please contact the church at (509) 545-6777 for more information.

 

  • Angels for Kids

    Angels for Kids provides support to children in foster care by granting them wishes that enhance their lives while in foster care. Some examples include music, art or dance lessons, sponsorship for a prom, providing graduation cards, and funding participation on a sports team.

 

  • Children's Hospital 3 Rivers Guild

    Children's Hospital 3 Rivers Guild provides uncompensated care for children and families who need medical assistance at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle.

 

  • Doctors Without Borders

    Doctors Without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe. (Sponsored by Shalom Untied Church of Christ, Richland)

 

  • Domestic Violence Services

    Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties assists clients in making their own choices while providing safe, confidential emergency and support service to victims of domestic violence.

 

  • Friends of Badger Mountain

    Friends of Badger Mountain is a group of local residents who came together to try to preserve the ridges around the Tri-Cities for the scenic view and as open space before they were permanently lost by irreversible development. When the group learned that 574 acres was for sale on the crest and slopes of Badger Mountain, their goal became to acquire the land to be held as open space.

 

  • Heifer International

    Heifer International's focus on the simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for over 60 years. Today, millions of families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope.

 

  • Mid-Columbia Reading Foundation

    The Mid-Columbia Reading Foundation distributes books to children throughout our community and works to ensure that every child is read to twenty minutes a day from birth and that at least 90% of students read at or above their grade level by the end of the third grade.

 

  • My Friend's Place

    My Friend's Place is working to establish a shelter for homeless youth in the Tri-Cities. The shelter will provide food and a safe haven for the estimated 100 youth who have no place to go.

 

  • Pathways Education Program

    The mission of the Pathways Project is to improve the educational advancement of Latino child care providers while increasing their skills to deliver quality enhancements to the children in their care. The goal is to improve those early learning environments to help bridge the gap for children between preschool and kindergarten.

 

  • Pet Over Population Prevention

    Pet Over Population Prevention promotes responsible pet ownership by educating the public regarding spaying and neutering their pets, providing spay/neuter assistance, and caring for and finding homes for abandoned and/or homeless pets.

 

  • Planned Parenthood of Central Washington

    Planned Parenthood of Central Washington provides education, advocacy and responsible health care to women, men and families. They serve over 21,000 patients in five full service health centers and seven express health centers throughout a twelve county area of Central and Eastern Washington. PPCW ensures affordable, quality reproductive health care to all individuals regardless of age, race or income.

 

  • Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery

    Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery is an emergency respite center providing a safe nurturing environment for children ages birth through twelve years when there are no other alternatives. Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery also provides outreach, support and training to assist families in establishing a safe and stable environment.

 

  • Second Harvest Tri-Cities

    Second Harvest Tri-Cities brings community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education and partnerships. Approximately 24,000 individuals visit a food bank each month. 47% of those in need are children.

 

  • Tapteal Greenway Association

    The Tapteal Greenway Association works to preserve the rustic character of the lower Yakima River, protecting native habitats and species through conservation, enhancing recreational opportunities throughout the corridor, providing outdoor education programs, and promoting public access to and understanding of these resources.

 

  • Tri-Cities Dog Park Society

    The Tri-Cities Dog Park Society was formed in March of 2005 by a group of citizens who wanted to establish off-leash recreational areas for dog owners. TCDPS has been actively working to raise support for this cause through public education, pet fairs and news media. The dog part at Badger Mountain is the first of what is hoped to be many in our area.

 

  • Unitarian Universalist Service Committee

    The Unitarian Universalist Service committee is a nonsectarian organization that advances human rights and social justice in the United States and around the world. They support programs and policies that promote workers' rights, advance the human right to water, defend civil liberties and preserve the rights of those affected by humanitarian crises.

 

  • Vista Youth Center

    Vista Youth Center provides youth development programs that include building self-esteem and healthy relationships, communication skills, goal setting, peer suicide prevention and comprehensive sexual education.
